Gateway to La Sal Hut | 22.3 miles | 4,560 ft to 8,055 ft
We left Gateway early & started a long gradual climb to the top of the plateau through beautiful John Brown canyon. This was a day of gravel road riding, no alternate single track that I can think of - just crossing the plain & beginning little climb into the La Sals. On whole, the route from Telluride to Moab is significantly "easier" as measured by climbing - it seems like we hardly had to climb the La Sals at all.
