The best riders cover the distance in about 10 hours & 40 minutes; we managed to finish in 15 1/2. I'm not sure how many started in 2014, but 469 finished.
Red White & Boom
Lutsen 99er
The 99er was a mudfest. Maybe not as bad as years past, but still muddy. Brent and I both went into the 99er a little overconfident. Having survived the Kanza and being only 6 days removed from an 8 day mountain bike trip out West the general feeling was that the extra red-blood cells would easily lift us through a mere 99 miles. We were wrong.

Last Dollar to Spring Creek | 27.0 miles | 10,980 ft to 9,200 ft
Day 2 was a nice ride. Started with a short hike down the opposite side of Last Dollar Hut from where we climbed the day before and led to a pretty easy day on gravel roads. The first 15 miles or so were especially pretty and fun; gentle downhill ride with the San Juan mountains close to our back.

Prologue - Ride to the falls in Telluride
After a 20 hour plus drive from Minneapolis & Milwaukee to Telluride we finally arrived in town sometime early afternoon. We made a few compulsory stops at the local watering holes, had dinner somewhere and decided to stretch our legs a bit with a ride up to the falls at the end of the canyon.
Dirty Kanza 200
Almanzo 2014
The track was fast and the weather was perfect. No doubt the talk after the race was about the three horses who decided to run along with us.
